It doesn't feel like all that long ago that I turned 40, yet here I am embracing this new decade in the company of some lovely women who I've 'met' in the blogosphere. I was introduced to a stylish group of five women via work friend and blogger, Ann of Kremb de la Kremb. They call themselves The Fab 40s and together, they post their own style take on various themes and trends each month. This month, I was invited to join them as Guest Blogger, which means I was offered a chance to choose their theme.
Unknowingly, I inspired Ann with a little DIY Fringe project I completed this summer when I added fringe to a thrifted black clutch. It was a safe project given that the clutch only cost me a whopping 99 cents! I had been eyeballing all these fun bags with super long fringe and thought I'd give it a go myself rather than buy one. I don't fancy myself a DIY blogger, so I just did this for myself and was really pleased with the results (progress on this clutch was shared on my Instagram feed @imanorbyah). Little did I know that it got Ann thinking of a theme for this month's Fab 40s post. I was very flattered, to say the least.
So here they are, five fabulously stylish ladies in their 40s each with their own interpretation of the fringe trend:

Thank you ladies for the warm welcome and for this month's fun challenge. It was lovely 'meeting' you and reading your fringe posts, too. You're all so sweet.
You may recall a rant I posted over the summer in response to a ridiculous article about age appropriate dressing (whatever that is). After writing this post, I have continued to find myself really speaking for not only myself but all women who have to answer to others' perceptions of what is right for us. Through stumbling upon that dreadful article, I met another fabulous 40s blogger, Catherine of Not Dressed as Lamb whose response is this hashtag #iwillwearwhatilike.
Details: Tory Burch blouse (bought second hand at the Get Redressed Pop Up), DIY distressed Guess jeans from Goodwill, vintage scarf, Shoemint boots, vintage jewellery
Between Catherine and these other ladies of The Fab 40s, any doubts I previously had about being 40 have most definitely disappeared. I think I'll be quite happy in the good company of these women and I know now that I'm ready to face any age with grace and confidence.
