There has been, perhaps, no other more defining event of my life than motherhood.
With much of it beginning in my thirties, I can honestly say that it's a key part of helping me define myself. I am comfortable being myself and I like who I am, thanks to these little buggers.
One of the most important lessons I've learned as a mother is to live in the moment. Things cannot always be perfectly planned out. Not every moment will be wonderful, but at the same time, moments are fleeting. They grow up so quickly.
So you have to remember to have fun. When we wanted to take our Mother's Day picture this year, the kiddos wanted to do a silly one. My first instinct was to say can we please do the nice one first? But, before I even got those words out of my mouth, I changed my mind. I didn't want it to only be about what I wanted, and I thought, why not? So we made goofy faces first.
And in the end, the nice picture turned out much better. We were all in a good mood and we caught perhaps the only non-rainy part of the day.
Now as I look back at these pictures from yesterday, I can hardly believe how big my kiddos look. How is it possible that these three special people were ever so small as to be my sweet babies? It boggles the mind.
Happy Mother's Day (a day late) to all you mums and almost mums out there and especially to my mum. We really are the lucky ones, aren't we?

Love those photos-- and on such a dull and terribly wet day!
