Living outside of the US now going on eight years, Thanksgiving doesn't have the same impact for us as it used to.
Even working for an American style school, we don't get Thanksgiving holiday and therefore, our turkey feast (or some variation of it) has always had to wait until Saturday.
This year isn't any different, except tonight we had roast chicken with stuffing and gravy. ON Thanksgiving day.
It felt good.
And, before we dug into our meal, we all went around to say what we were thankful for. A nice tradition that we've managed most years.
Buddy said his teachers.
The hubby is thankful for Eva and Jojo.
Cally first said octopus (she was learning how to say it in her Cantonese lesson today) and then changed her mind (and for the life of me I can't remember. Octopus was such a Cally response).
And for me, I'm thankful that I have my mum around everyday.
***Pictures for this post all come from our October trip to Fiji, another blessing for which I am thankful. The opportunity for my family to finally see this beautiful place and to meet the wonderful people who have welcomed me as part of their Rukurukulevu village community and who I have been fortunate enough to know all these years.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
