Sometimes, as I look back at old posts, I find myself in a bit of a style quandary.
It's a bit of a 'not that deep' kind of pondering, but still I wonder. How would I define my style?
More and more these days, I gravitate towards vintage. I love it. I mean, I'm an Etsy addict, for crying out loud. It's a goldmine of vintage.
I also love a good thrift shop adventure. There's nothing like the thrill of finding a gem and breathing new life into it. Sometimes it's vintage, sometimes it's just second hand.
Other times it's a piece that just needs a nip or a tuck. Hemming, lopping off sleeves, repurposing of some kind. I like to think this makes me creative, but I'm not fooling myself. I'm hardly a DIY diva.
Then there's the whole shaved head thing. Where does that fit? Am I just a mismatch of my style preferences? Feminine? Edgy? Retro?
Take these pants for instance. My lovely friend and colleague found a bag of gorgeous African prints as she was clearing out some space at school and gave the contents to me. The pants struck my eye immediately. They were quite a few inches longer (more mid calf) and nearly right away I envisioned them styled as you see here. At first the hubby saw them and said he didn't even think I could carry them off. Then I had them hemmed and he said no more (which is neither an endorsement or a criticism).
I received numerous compliments during the day which made me feel like I was doing something right. Now, how else can I style them? Thoughts?
Oh my goodness, this post makes me think of my bloggy friend, Gabi at Look Sharp Sconnie. She's way wittier, though. Check her out.
