Yesterday was a bit of a false start to the school year. Funny how a typhoon 8 day (like a snow day) can feel so good when you haven't actually started school yet.
Except if you're little, like my kiddos. They were itching to start school. They'd gone in and met their teachers, seen their classrooms and laid out their uniforms. Even my big fifth grade boy heaved a big sob when he came into our room and discovered there was no school. Deep down I'm thrilled he loves school so much that he was disappointed to miss it.
My back to school outfit was a blend of all my thrifting adventures over the summer. Goodwill...Lily Pads...you name it, I went there. And, boy do I have some good vintage to style up this year. Can't wait.
I decided to brave the hair down look, always a gamble with all this humidity, but I really thought the hair scarf would compliment the earthy tone of my skirt well. I'm glad I did and the curls behaved themselves.
The challenge for this next week is what shoes to wear in this post typhoon rain we're getting. I have my gumboots, but really, I don't want to wear those cumbersome things just yet. I'm not ready to say goodbye to summer dressing.
Here's to meeting more students tomorrow. The beginning of the year is exciting and exhausting all at the same time. I'm off to bed!
Oops, almost forgot...
Here are the kiddos on their first day! Little Cally starts in September.
Outfit details: Goodwill skirt, Charity shop hair scarf, Five Stones Vintage blouse, Madewell sandals (several seasons old).
