Ever wonder about the uses of your pinky? I mean, we all know about how special our thumbs make us, right? But, your pinky, ever think about that?
No, not so much. I didn't really appreciate my pinky until I cut it on a wine glass two days ago. I was washing dishes, and moving the two clean wine glasses to make space for more dishes in the rack when they toppled and broke the glass I was holding.
Twelve stitches later, I have a brand new appreciation for my pinky. It's my dominant hand, you see, and I'm down a digit. Typing this post, for instance, is a little bit more challenging than usual. Brushing my teeth left handed is totally awkward. Not to mention all functions in the bathroom from the toilet to showering are all much more cumbersome. And, the most annoying thing is that I have finally reached the point in my tattoo healing where I could go swimming again, but now I've just extended it for ten days!
I should be thankful, though. For one, I escaped this accident with no nerve or tendon damage. And, the visit to City MD Urgent Care in NYC was pretty pleasant, all things considered. I'm becoming an expert on summertime ER visits. This is my third in the seven years we've been in Hong Kong and making trips back to the States (and one year we didn't leave, so 3 out of 6!) Let me just say I'm a relatively healthy person, and I'm also careful, but I guess I have a bad track record for summer.
Oh, we're back in the Midwest as of yesterday, so the pace has slowed again. It is back to backyard lounging, charity shop and estate sale rummaging and evening bike riding.
