It's no secret that I love vintage clothing.
There's nothing I like more than finding treasures in flea markets, while thrifting or in vintage clothing shops. I've found a number of fantastic vintage shops on Etsy (add me to your circle, my username is norbyah). I love browsing through bloggers' shops (Tea and Tulips, Fancy Treehouse). I've even found loads of vintage items in my own Stanley Market.
I think part of the enjoyment is in knowing that what you buy is unique. I also feel good knowing that I've given a new home to a second hand item of clothing, a new lease of life for it, let's say. I'm an environmentalist at heart, so this is a really good reason for me.
But I also love that in many cases, it's a matter of patience (going back again and again to the same stores), timing (there's no time to hesitate because you lose out if you're not sure) and for me, as a teacher, price. Really. Who said fashion and style had to cost you an arm and a leg?
My challenge comes when I style my vintage clothing. How do I add modern and up to the moment touches to create balance and follow trends in my outfits. In other words, for me, how do I accessorize?
This week, it's been with this cropped leather jacket (because it's cool enough to wear), and most days a statement necklace.
So I'm curious, how would you style your vintage?
Outfit details: Etsy dress (kickass vintage), Sam Edelman oxfords, chunky necklace from the lanes in Central.
