Monday afternoon was a painful exercise in frustration that left me feeling grumpy about where I live.
You see, I had to rearrange some plans so that I could get Buddy over to the dentist to be fitted for a mouth guard. No problem.
Except for the awful traffic and living way out here in the country park where I have no choice of buses. And, nothing was coming. Traffic was at a standstill.
I finally called the dentist's office to explain that we were not only running late, but we hadn't even left. The receptionist consoled me, explaining that if I could get there fifteen minutes before closing, I could still get Buddy in.
Then the traffic got worse. There were actually buses and cars backed up from the bridge past where I was standing. I called again and rescheduled. The whole time I was cursing the fact that I don't live in Stanley anymore, where I always had a variety of buses to choose from that could take me anywhere.
Walking back home from the main road at dusk, Buddy and I decided to take a detour to the bay behind our house. Just a five minute walk from the chaos of the traffic and we were in the midst of serenity.
And I found the harsh thoughts that had clouded my mind only moments before were replaced by an overwhelming gratitude and love for the surroundings of my current home. I have to remember to come down here more often.
Outfit details: Five stones vintage dress, Sam Edelman oxfords, Stanley market brass necklace.
