Okay, it's no secret that I'm a little addicted to style blogs. You can see from my side bar that I have quite a few which I visit regularly. It's a bit like my obsession with knitting, crafting blogs. I haven't had much time to knit lately, but getting dressed is, well, a daily occurrence. And, why not look? I don't get my InStyle magazine subscription over here like I used to in Madison. So, this is kind of the next best thing.
Now, don't worry. I'm not going to write a whole long post about style blogs and fashion. I'm merely using this as an introduction to tell you a story about my big girl this weekend. You see, she's pretty style conscious. She knows what she likes. She has sparkly gold flats that she calls her pretty shoes. She, like her mama, loves to wear dresses, even when they aren't practical for just playing outside on the field. We've had to separate them into categories - play dresses and going out dresses. Ella loves to get dressed up to go out, too. Any excuse is fine.
The other thing she loves is to wear my shoes. I'm not sure if this is just a girl thing because Cally enjoys it too, but Buddy never really did it. Either way, if I leave my shoes (flats, heels, sandals, etc) by the door when I come in, it doesn't take long for them to find their way onto a little girl's feet.
Anyway, having said this, I also have to remind you all that Ella is just four. Sometimes her fashion sense just doesn't, well, make sense. At the slightest hint of a rain cloud (or a darkish cloud), she wants to wear her pink cat gum boots. If there is a breeze outside, she decides she's cold and wants to wear her uggs. She doesn't always pick things out that...match. She'll get it in her head that she wants to wear a particular article of clothing and the rest of the outfit will stem from there.
Case in point. These pictures, taken this weekend. I'm not sure what came first, the scarf or the outfit. Luckily for her, her stylish NYC aunties send her cute things like this outfit from American Apparel. And, what's more, this look was entirely put together by Ella.
Not bad, eh?
And, you can see she quite likes to pose for pictures, too.
