I think I've given myself a bit of a complex.
I've always claimed to be a huge lover of color. And patterns. And vintage novelty prints! I remember writing a post about how that sometimes creates a challenge for me when trying to dress casual. Lately, however, I've noticed that my outfits are more neutral and less color and print. How can this be? What's happening to me?
Having just returned from a lovely two week holiday in Sri Lanka (these pics are pre-holiday and pre-tan), I'm thinking about color again. Sri Lanka is full of vibrant color. And my color, I mean the kind that makes a statement. Not navy, or grey. Those are safe colors, in my book. I mean real color like reds, oranges, greens, purples, turquoises.
Even when I wear neutral colors and my outfits are more in line with the minimalist trend, I try to incorporate a dash of color somewhere. Here I accessorized this off white dress and black leather combo with a bright floral vintage scarf (a sweet gift from my lovely friend Kenia over at Retro Rhapsody vintage) and my Louella Odie Skyline embroidered tote.
It's a spot of color, but having been immersed in color over the last two weeks in Sri Lanka, I think I can bring in more than this. I'm not sure how I'm doing, though. In the last three days back at work, I've only succeeded to do this once.
Oh, I wish I could go back to Sri Lanka...
