School days

Ideally, I wouldn't have posed for pictures at this time of day.

But, last week was insanely hectic.  It was our first week back after the Christmas holiday, and I was scrambling around with the kids' activities, trying to fall back into our usual routine.  It's funny how you can forget in just two weeks.  Knowing there wasn't much daylight left, I managed to convince Buddy to snap these quick pics after basketball practice.

Though the pictures turned out a tad blurry, I did kind of like this kind of light, with the floor lights of the Stanley sports complex adding a warm glow.  Don't worry, I'm not thinking about night outfit pics or anything, but just saying they turned out better than I thought.

This outfit has so many characteristics that I love.  First is the combination of the blush pink with the maroon (or oxblood - just waiting to see what we call it this year).  Though they are very similar in color, I love that they can be paired together so effectively.

Next, I love the peter pan collar.  This one came from my linen shop in Stanley and is embroidered.  I also love to wear belts with my cardigans and sweaters.  This skinny red belt does the trick and the sweater is just the right length and fit to do it without being bunchy.

What I ended up liking the most was my shoe (and sock) choice.  I initially thought I'd wear ankle boots, but decided last minute to wear my oxfords.  I couldn't wear black tights (and those are really the only color I have), so I dug out these very pale pink (almost white) socks.  The effect -with the pleated skirt - was to feel very much like a school girl.

Outfit pics: Cashmere sweater, red belt and linen blouse from Stanley Market, pink polka dot skirt from Me and Gee, Sam Edelman oxfords, Michael Kors watch, picture hook necklace from Cat Street

I also love the peter pan collar and the colour combination!

I also quite like night photos. It can be hard, but they look great when they turn out. My friend Annebeth of The Styling Dutchman often has great twilit ones, and if you can get under some street lights, it's orange but magical. These look great!
