A night out

One of the fun things we had the opportunity to do while we were in NYC was attend an art opening.

My sister works for Gagosian Gallery in Chelsea so she had an invitation to the opening for Yayoi Kusama at the Whitney.

She and her boyfriend insisted that we go and offered to stay home with our kiddos.

Kusama is in her 80s and her work is at the forefront of contemporary art.

We got to view some interesting installations and paintings which showed how her artwork has developed through the years.

But perhaps more interesting for me were the people attending the art opening.  It was a great place to people watch.  I could just have taken pictures of people and their outfits.  I was even flattered to be complimented on mine.

After the opening, my sister suggested we get a drink at a cocktail bar in her neighbourhood called Huckleberry.  It was a lovely evening out.  The kids had such fun with my sister and Obbie (and Max, who helped to put them to bed) that they wanted us to go out again the next night.

That's such a fun thing to do in New York! It must have made you feel just like a local. :) And I absolutely love what you wore... the bright, clashing colours are just perfect for an art show... you even kind of go with the exhibit!
