A button expedition

On Tuesday afternoon, my mum and I went into Causeway Bay to Jardine's market to look for buttons.  She needed some for the blue cardigan she's making for Poo and I needed some for the little vest I was making for Cally.

Hong Kong is known for its great street markets.  They can be found all over the city.  Each one has it's own specialty.  There is the bird's market, the flower market, the fish market, the ladies market . . . you get the idea.  Most of these markets have fashionable bargain buys as well.  One of my favorites is the market in the lanes of Central.  On the main streets, you can walk into stores like Gucci, Louis Vuitton or Dolce and Gabbana.  In the lanes, you can buy the same items - knock off versions - at a fraction of the price.  Everyone walks around looking fashionable and no one knows for sure whose is real and whose is fake.  I love it.

Jardine's market is another one of my favorites.  Its good for buying things like socks, tights, underwear, and all kinds of accessories.  At the far end, you can also buy anything you might need for a crafty type project.  It was the perfect place to look for buttons.

And, there were so many to choose from!  Mum and I had no trouble at all finding the right ones for our knitting projects.

Speaking of knitting projects, I finished mine yesterday.  It was so exciting to see it all come together.  The color of the buttons complimenting the color of the wool.  And, it fits just perfectly.  So perfectly, in fact, that she's worn it the last two days.  I want to make sure she gets as much use out of it as she can.  And, don't worry.  I've taken lots of pics too.  I'll put them in a separate post tomorrow.
